Why Some MTN Numbers Can't Receive Data Bundles — and What to Do
If you have ever paid for MTN data that never arrived, the number itself may have been the problem. Not every MTN number can receive bundles through every sales channel, and until recently you only found out after paying.
What we changed
Every MTN number is now checked before you pay — on the website, at checkout and in the agent wallet. If the number cannot receive bundles from us, you see a clear message straight away and no money is taken.
Numbers that cannot receive bundles
Some SIM types are not supported for data bundles bought through us, including:
- Turbo SIMs (Turbosim) and broadband SIMs
- Merchant and EVD (agent float) SIMs
- Blacklisted or inactive numbers
Ordinary MTN SIMs used in phones work normally.
What to do if your number is not approved
- Use another MTN number — for example a different SIM in the same phone, then share data or use that line.
- Keep the number on our list: we record numbers that are refused and send an SMS when the number is approved, so you can buy then.
- If you think the number should work, use our Report an Issue page and our team will check it.
Why we check first
Checking first means no refunds to chase and no waiting for data that will never come. If an order still fails after payment for any reason, our team handles it manually and your order is never simply lost.
